Things You Should Know About Chinese Shopping

I like shopping. And something happens when I go to China. Something in the air — either the around-the-clock manufacturing or the settling dust of a run-away economy – turns me into a rabid consumer.

Cute eyeglass frames for $15 USD each. Wooden buttons shaped like elephants. Ceramic buttons painted like porcelain. Tibetan prayer bowls. Cellphone covers for every day of the week.

Some may ask whether I actually needed the same linen balloon pants in three different earth-tone colors.

Honestly? I really did. Because I was on my China shopping spree.

China isn’t simply about the Great Wall or 5,000 years of history. With its economic development, China has become a major shopping destination with its own unique flair.

The Guomao district in Beijing, home of the China World Shopping Mall, features such storefronts as Louis Vuitton, Burberry, and Prada.

For me, however, these sterile fluorescent halls with their white mannequins have never held quite as much appeal as China’s other shopping venues.

Packed antique stalls, bustling night markets, and shopping centers divided into booths of different vendors with the same merchandise. That's what I'm here for.

For those inadequately prepared, however, shopping in China can be a complete nightmare. There are certain things you'll have to know to survive your first few shopping experiences.

1.  Sometimes people will follow you

I was seven years old on my first trip to China when this happened to me. A salesperson trying to convince my mother that I needed a pair of khaki pants followed us for several hundred feet.

Depending on where you are, sales associates will be terrifyingly tenacious when dealing with weak-willed customers.

You'll need to be equally tenacious when you're bargaining to get a good deal.

3. It's easy to get exactly what you want

One of the best things about shopping in China is getting your purchases customized.

Jewelry stores often display strings of beads that can be bought and transformed into whatever shapes and patterns you please.

Fabrics of your choice can be brought to a tailor, along with a pattern, photo, or sample of what you want made.

Friends of mine have purchased silk-lined suits, cloth cargo shorts, and even a wedding dress custom-made this way.By the way ,you can get taobao chinese traditional jacket online, such as taobao and agreetao.

6. Vendors expect you to bargain

Modern shopping malls generally have set prices that can’t be negotiated, but vendors at night markets, antique stalls, or personal booths at other shopping centers usually expect customers to question their prices.

But bargaining and haggling isn’t just procedure. It’s an artform. You can see how real Chinese people bargain in a Yoyo Chinese premium video and learn a few phrases to get a good deal.

I've listed a few phrases below this video, too, so you'll have more to work with!

TIPS

How to Increase Your Social Media Click-Through Rates via Social Media Examiner

Most businesses make the same mistake in their social media updates: They don’t have a call to action that routes people back to their website. Remember to give fans a reason to click through. To get the most out of your efforts, look at which social updates, blog posts and advertising campaigns your prospective customers have responded well to in the past. Use your landing page to provide more information and another clear, strong call to action and the means to complete that action.

Since kids are less likely to distinguish between advertising and regular content, avoid sponsored ads in children’s publications and websites. Native ads work best when the content is consistent with a brand’s personality, as well as the publisher’s editorial mandate. Finally, provide an opportunity to participate and make customers feel empowered.

Looking for taobao agent?

Chinese Taobao is one of the world's largest e-commerce websites, a combination of eBay and Amazon, only bigger. With more than 800 million items listed, you can find almost anything offered for sale.

For the Shunyi expat community, it’s even more convenient because Ruan works at one of the International Schools, which makes paying in cash incredibly easy. Their ten percent fee is very reasonable, if you consider how much time you will save, and using a personal shopper takes the hassle out of the whole process. So maybe it’s time to give your bilingual friends a break, and enlist the help of an agent instead.

If you are unable to read Chinese, or do not have the time or patience to trawl through hundreds of pages of items, then it’s time you got a Taobao agent. Agents, or personal shoppers, will do your shopping for you. They do the searching, buy the items, and have them delivered either to their own warehouse, and then ship them out to you, or will arrange delivery direct to your home.

In need of a fancy dress outfit for a friend’s Birthday Party, I did an initial search on Taobao, so that I had a few links and pictures of what I wanted. I then emailed these links to TaobaoPlus10 personal shopper, Andrew Ruan, who helps simplifying the whole Taobao shopping experience for expats in China.

“As vendors from all over China put their stuff for sale on Taobao, we can find almost anything. My customers only need to send me an email of what they need (description, a web-link, a picture, a brand), then I will get back to them with the links for those items available,” explains Ruan.

Once you receive the list of matching products, simply select the item you want, send your personal shopper the payment (cash, PayPal or bank transfer), and they will order the product for you. Items will be delivered to your home, and if you need something urgently, they will pay the seller on your behalf, and then you reimburse TaobaoPlus10. If there are any problems with the order, they will help you resolve the issue. Ruan’s recent orders have included Huggies diapers, Crayola coloring pens and pencils, gluten free pizza base, and Vogmasks.

The Seven Most Baffling Things About Women's Clothes (1)

There are a lot of annoying things about being a woman, like periods, childbirth and not being able to play basketball in a way that keeps spectators awake. But near the top of the list has got to be buying clothes.

I know one way to fix it is just to be ballsy and wear men's clothes, and that's a bold choice. But you take a social hit for wearing "masculine" clothes, and most women don't want to take that hit. So they go to buy clothes made specifically "for women," and generally find a set of the most impractical, low-quality, high-maintenance crap that a sweatshop can make. View this page if you want to buy taobao women clothes.

Here are a few of the many, many awful things about the clothes that manufacturers want women to wear:

#7. The Material Is Too Thin
Go through any women's clothes section and put your hand inside all the shirts and dresses and see if you can see it. (If you are a man, try to make sure no one is looking first.) About 50 percent of the time, you are going to get a pretty good view of your hand. And you don't have to go to a fancy boutique; this holds true for my neighborhood Target.

#6. Fake Pockets or No Pockets
One thing I think a lot of men take for granted is pockets. It seems like men always have pockets. They're a requirement in men's pants, men's coats always have functional pockets and I guess even men's prison jumpsuits must have them, since I hear about people smuggling goods into prison all the time.

Women's clothing manufacturers, on the other hand, seem to believe women can't be trusted with pockets. Something like 99 percent of dresses have no pockets at all, and the more formal you get, the more likely a women's coat or pants pocket is going to be a fake, decorative pocket.

#5. Too Cold
Another problem is that women's clothes are too damn cold. Part of it is the thinness of much of the material, as mentioned before, but no matter how thick the material, many, many styles involve increasing exposure, like dipped necklines, three-quarter sleeves or skirts and dresses.

It can be easy to chalk this up just to women who dress "provocatively," but the truth is that a fairly normal, unprovocative women's style exposes a lot more skin than men's clothes. A below-knee skirt still exposes your shins. A three-quarter sleeve isn't terribly provocative unless you have a thing for forearms. And necklines don't need to go anywhere near the boobs to still be a lot wider than the average men's neckline.

#4. Arbitrary Clothing Sizes
Men's pants sizes are logical and come in measurements of at least waist size, and often inseam, too. Women's pants sizes, and clothing sizes in general, are meaningless, arbitrary numbers that come, as far as I can tell, from having kittens bat around a 20-sided die.

Switched on yet?

Are you starting to get scared every time you visit the fuel station? If so maybe now is the time to start thinking about swapping your gas guzzler for an eco friendly and cheap to run electric vehicle.

Electric scooters have come on in leaps and bounds over the last five years and although they’re still comparatively expensive to buy they can still work out as a cost effective long term solution.

The Plug In Sprint is one of the latest electric scooters to arrive in the UK, it’s built in China and is imported by Emissions Free Solutions. It costs £3,800 which is quite a lot compared to the price of a similar spec Chinese built 125cc petrol scooter which could be had for less than £1,800. With electric you’re paying a premium for the expensive batteries, motor and electronics.

It is a lot of money but when you think about the long term running costs compared to a petrol scooter/car or public transport that extra cost can soon be clawed back. A full charge on your Plug In will cost around 57 pence and you get a range of over 40 miles on average and road tax is free, so within three years you’ll recoup the extra outlay.

The main downside with an electric vehicle is the range; Plug In claim the Sprint can cover as much as 67 miles at 25mph, or 35 miles at 63mph, more than enough for most commuters. It takes four hours to fully charge and it uses a conventional three pin plug which is attached to a three metre long lead under the seat, so depending on where you work you could charge it whilst you’re there.

Before riding the Plug In you’ll need to take a one day CBT test and have insurance, just like you would for a petrol scooter. Everything else is just like riding a convention machine. You turn the ignition key, take it off the stand, press the starter button, twist the throttle and you’re away. I was impressed at how smooth the scooter felt and at how well it accelerated. The first thing you notice is how silent the world around you seems, the only sound is the road noise from the tyres and the wind.

Verify and evaluate suppliers in China!

In an earlier video, we talked about how to narrow down a list of potential suppliers to a select group of highly qualified candidates.

Now go ahead and contact this short list. This starts the RFQ (request for quotation) phase. The feedback from this initial contact should allow you to further narrow down the list to the top 2 or 3 based on pricing and non-price attributes.

The next step is to validate if the suppliers are legit. In my opinion there are two essential types of verification.

Type One is the Factory Audit. This is to verify that the supplier has a quality control system in place and they have the production experience to supply you with the goods they say they can make for you.

Type Two is an Operational Audit or Due Diligence. This is to confirm that the supplier has a good reputation and is financially strong enough to stay in business long enough to complete your order. In other words, they are not likely to disappear with your initial payment.

There are professional service providers available who conduct these types of verification at very reasonable prices. I highly recommend you engage professional support if you don't have the skill set in-house to audit factories in China on your own. Contact me and I would be happy to recommend the 3rd parties I use for verification. But for your reference, here are some other tools you can use on your own or in conjunction with those 3rd parties.

It doesn't cost you anything to ask for references. If a supplier can't give you a few happy clients to visit with…this is a big red flag.

Confirm that you have the right to visit the production line and check on your order. If they come up with a bunch of excuses why you can't visit, it either means they don't have the ability to produce your product and are scared that you won't like what you see if you visit or it could be as simple as that they are a trading company and worried you will cut them out of the supply chain once you realize they provide little value. Speaking of trading companies, sometimes, especially if your order is small, it makes sense to use them, but I hate trading companies that say they are the factory when really they are just brokers.

Ask to see the suppliers Quality Control Manual. If they don't have an ISO compliant, written quality management system…run away. If you want to see what a Product Quality Manual looks like, you can check out china company verification at the link below:http://www.cnbizsearch.com/search/cc/

Having verified that your suppliers are legit, the next step, and our next video, deals with negotiating the price and then moving into production. On that note, as always, I sign off-wishing you successful sourcing in China! And if you found the information in this video useful, consider returning the favor: subscribe to my YouTube channel, hit the "like it" button and post some comments. Or check out my blogs and monthly newsletter. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out via Linkedin, find me at the China Sourcing Academy or visit my company's website.

Credit risk in China

Credit risk in China means the country will find it very hard to grow. Global credit ratings agency Fitch Ratings has warned that the extent of china credit could make it very difficult for the country to grow its way out of excesses as it has in the past. The comments suggest tougher times ahead, which could impact on businesses.

Over the last decade China has grown at an impressive rate making it an attractive prospect for firms worldwide. However, the report from Fitch Ratings found that the ratio of credit to GDP now stands at 200 per cent, leading to the agency predicting muted growth.

Speaking to the Telegraph, Charlene Chu, Fitch Rating's senior director in Beijing, said, "The credit-driven growth model is clearly falling apart. This could feed into a massive over-capacity problem, and potentially into a Japanese-style deflation.

"There is no transparency in the shadow banking system, and systemic risk is rising. We have no idea who the borrowers are, who the lenders are, and what the quality of assets is, and this undermines signalling."

China's credit bubble could affect British businesses operating in the region. Ensuring that suppliers and customers are regularly checked for stability and creditworthiness is key for maintaining a strong supply chain.

Graydon's International Credit Risk Assessment Monitoring services enables businesses to keep up to date with trading partners'current situations. The latest credit information is automatically added to a client’s database allowing them to monitor critical events and rating changes. Additionally, email alerts are sent the second new occurs so businesses can rest assured they will be well informed should risk emerge.

Many UK businesses have offset European losses due to increasing demand in China and other fast-growth nations but it is vital for them to remain cautious and alert for changing market conditions.

How to ride unicycle -- electric balance scooter

Each person has their own ride a learning experience , we may not the same, I said here is just one way for the new reference .

Many online tutorials , including exercises to find a corridor , but this is not the fastest way , because the novice can not keep a straight line , in the corridor often left buttresses supporting the wall left and right against the wall right wall, but slow progress, but after all, a safe way .

Another crash is training wheels , though let you quickly learn forward and back , but it allows you to have a dependent , removed auxiliary wheels when you will be very frustrated ! As originally thought he had a cow over the center of gravity of you simply can not find it! As you see, electric balance scooter is not difficultto learn, everyone can try it!

1 , site :
My theory is to find a spacious flat place , not many people as possible obstacles , because when you are just learning will be unable to maintain a straight line , so that you will not be because the site wide road has changed or if you want to hit the curb or to burst into the grass the forced jumped , with their best efforts to maintain the key is to quickly fall off success ! With more every time you go to one meter in the absence of support measures for the case to go the 10 m 50 m , inner satisfaction and joy is the corridor can not be replaced .

I was so practice on a person's leisure park lacks large plaza practice , will take more than 50 meters after five minutes , and 10 minutes after a wait for them to be able to control the turn radius of 10 meters near the Big Bend , one hour after will be able to freely walk on the park road .

Ground to be flat, not on the ground in the area of brick / stone ridge patterns have on the ground / Blind finest road practice , very subtle regular lines will have an impact on the sensitive direction of the wheelbarrow , the novice simply can not manage this deformation and twist !

2 , Bumper , this is a perfect match unicycle , or can go online to search the Internet to see more pictures of other unicycle riders , most people have posted Bumper , when a novice just beginning to learn the legs will Ge pain, which directly affect your mental pain and movement , because of the pain you will be action deformation , so the best time to start practicing just paste bumper or wear leggings .

3 , the focus of the other tutorials feet :( did not say )
Front of the car , first of all, make sure your foot center , this is very important, all the tutorials did not say that ! 80% of all people is the right foot, 2 percent is left , and left -handers did this relationship. Which is the method to judge their own center of gravity of the foot is feet stand upright , let a friend in case you do not notice a pushdown you , your subconscious is taken to the leg better focus foot. Snowboarding is also used to determine the forefoot that is the focus of this foot. Snowboarding is also used to determine the forefoot that is the focus of this foot. You should first focus is to step on the foot pedal wheelbarrow leg better ! Novices have hesitated in the end which first stepped foot ? ( Some people say this is not to judge the focus of the foot , so that , as a child played the one-legged battle dry it, is a hand clutching ankle , beating the other leg , the leg with bent knees and dry battle opponents , well, you beat the leg , the leg is your center of gravity is the most stable way you stand , grasping hands on that leg is not the focus of the legs )

4 , foot position :( other tutorials did not say )
Novices often bad step , step is not good , not just affect your perception of the state of the vehicle , but also affect the relative position of your legs and wheelbarrow fuselage, it was found that when just learning although they have an emergency step on one foot but all of a sudden a wheelbarrow from a small arc across the overturned Tuibian painted it? Because the position of your feet too far forward or rearward it!

After you determine the center of gravity of the foot , then the first foot on the pedal , the focus of the foot side of the car 's body stuck in the middle of the leg , the other foot pedal taxi light , gravity foot , leg , and car Trinity , have a whole sense , do not mess dangling dislocation. First scooters , feel good , try to set foot on the other foot . The position of the front and rear foot to master , novice look best feeling that shoes are equal before the pedal position in front of the exposed length of the heel or toe out a little bit more than that , it means the center of the shoe toward the center of the pedal or by before a little ( you feet in size , with the leg position is aligned as a reference ) , the location is too far forward on the list of not conducive to your learning .

5, the center of gravity forward :
The car is to determine the forward and back by gravity , so the center of your car will go forward pressure he gradually began to feel , to overcome the fear of flutter Street , because you do not ride, can not speeding, so basically not flutter Street . Novice bad master overall center of gravity forward , some people in the front half of the foot pressing down firmly , well, though is wrong, but it would be a method to learn , like snowboarding novice just learning often by foot adjustment angle board instead of the center of gravity , although tired, but also helps to find the feeling.

6 eyes ( other tutorials did not say )
Eyes must be fixed on the front , do not look down at the car , do not bend the upper body upright as much as possible ! The novice must pay attention , just like riding a bike , looking down at the ground all day when you ride , non fell not , the human ear 's balance organ is semicircular canal earlobe body , it is difficult to grasp when you bow in balance, you try test your feet on the ground stand up straight , place turn 10 laps can not faint , you bow down turn in place ten laps to try, almost dizzy spit !

7 , the protective tape
Tape is to protect the car , not much use for learning , as well as a little obstacle . Sometimes you jump off , the car because of the strap and pull you a somersault , the novice as well as possible because of the existence of the tape and taped down or pulling the vehicle upright , it is not right , it is detrimental to learning ! Novice just practice when there is no tape you are likely to crash , novices and experienced it, the car may also be tied to the tape roll out of control , life and death , or drop it! Car money can buy , life is your own , do not risk your life to give up money, to say we are not wrestling that more than ten thousand of the Tyrant 's SoloWheel! Really afraid crash , then you give the whole car before practice affix protective cushion sponge it. ( Some riders do not agree with this point of view , well, a long time before those N out of the veterans on the protective tape Reinstall the root protection zone, you try to square one hand to the side and gently force when it is not but affect you already skilled riding it? )

8, tire pressure
Master tire pressure can be maintained at 2.5-3.5 helps responsive steering , the novice can adjust the tire pressure to about 2.0 , and do not be too low , too low tire harmful . The tire pressure is actually high electric bike than you think some go , because the bike on two wheels balancing your weight , only one wheel wheelbarrow load all the weight . Under 2.0 tire pressure , the car will be relatively slow so the thief does not help the novice to quickly grasp the essentials

9 speed. We beginner , always afraid of a bad master fast , go slow , not knowing that the slower the more difficult ! This wheelbarrow transport, and a bicycle , and sometimes slow movement but not good grasp , so some forward speed is needed on such tools is to find a balance wheel in motion , bike riding for hours and no one OK , stay slow ride to adhere few minutes , understand?

10 , kept shaking did not fall. Again, and bike similar to a bicycle if the body down to the left , to the left handlebar is necessary to produce a reaction force and the centrifugal force against the right , the body is straightened . Unicycle is , if you find the car left down , put the body to the left turn light , if it is found to the right down, turn it to the right light . In this shake correction in a long time you can not afford to keep the car down.

After reading this tutorial , I hope you can easily break my five minutes straight 50 meters more than 1 hour to park roads liuwan records !
