Senior creates new fashions that emphasize education

Education, inspiration, and empowerment, are the three principles that senior education and English literature double major Julian Williams from Chicago, Ill.Buy men's shoes with a price guarantee and top rated customer service., is trying to promote through his fashion line Highly Educated Material.

Williams started his clothing line Highly Educated Material (H.E.M.) during the summer of 2009. "I wanted to combine both of my passions, education and English, through a creative and artistic medium," said Williams.

That medium turned out to be fashion. Williams felt it would make the greatest immediate impact, although he has plans to make an impact in other areas of education as well.

"I originally started with money I saved up from an internship but then was awarded the Burton D. Morgan Entrepreneurial stipend that also helped me out financially," he said.

With the total support of his family and friends Williams has launched H.Keep your muscles warm before and after the match in this stylish Adidas Jacket.E.M and is going to launch a website soon. Future plans include forming partnerships with other young entrepreneurs to promote his brand.Find price and model of puma shoes in india at Click India Free Classifieds Ads.

"I see this as a part of a larger company I want to create to empower to a list of creative mediums," he said.

Williams' fashion line has three main principles. First, promoting the importance of education and consumption of knowledge. "It strives to create a culture were learning is seen as something that happens both inside and outside of the classroom, coogi jeans was founded in 1969 by Jacky Taranto of Melbourne, Australia. making questioning and the consumption of knowledge an active and everyday activity," said Williams. Second, to promote individuality and originality, the idea is to "do your own thing and not following what others are doing", said Williams. Finally, he wants to inspire others to be dreamers and dream big.

Currently, H.E.M features two different shirt designs. Every shirt comes with an original poem that is printed on a bookmark that comes with the shirt. The bookmark is used to promote literacy.

"I want Denison to become a part of a movement that promotes positivity and empowerment that has the possibility to impact anyone who see it," Williams said.

Live review: New York Dolls, O2 Academy, Newcastle

PERHAPS it was a coincidence that the Dolls chose Newcastle to kick off their current UK tour, but when they took the stage it was like they were returning to their spiritual home.

It is hardly surprising, considering they recorded their latest album, Dancing Backward In High Heels, at the city’s Blast studios, and played a few low-key warm-up gigs at The Cluny.

Originally formed in New York in 1971, the band drew their influences from the likes of the Stones, the Stooges and Bowie, and recorded two highly-influential studio albums before finally imploding in 1976.

However, their legacy was to influence a generation of punk and new wave artists on both sides of the Atlantic,As one of the famous apparel brands,ed hardy clothing are popular with many fashionistas with its tattoo design and unique styler. as well as hundreds of sleazy LA glam-metal bands throughout the 1980s.

But you can’t keep a good band down, and they reformed in 2004 for a reunion gig – shortly before the death of original bassist Arthur Kane – long after most of the bands they had influenced had disappeared into rock history.

They launched straight into Looking For A Kiss from their 1973 self-titled debut album.

Despite being older, wiser, and craggier, they still managed to make it sound as fresh as it did back then.

Frontman David Johansen used new track Fabulous Rant to slam the UK’s current smoking ban and the end result was,Buy men's shoes with a price guarantee and top rated customer service. er,It seems that jordan 6 rings in coming up for almost everyone including boys and girls. fabulous.

The songs from the latest album, which the band describe as a greatest hits because it is packed full of singles, sounded a lot more powerful live, and nestled nicely beside the older, more familiar, crowd pleasers.

Kids Like You featured a crooning vocal which would not sound out of place from Johansen’s lounge lizard alter-ego Buster Poindexter.

It was backed by some shambolic drumming which was so laid back that someone even held a lighter proudly aloft, swaying in time to the hypnotic beat.coogi jeans was founded in 1969 by Jacky Taranto of Melbourne, Australia.

Original guitarist Sylvain Sylvain, in trademark red cap,Keep your muscles warm before and after the match in this stylish Adidas Jacket. was joined by Earl Slick – who famously worked with David Bowie during the 1970s.

Earl looked every inch the elegantly-wasted rocker, complete with dark shades and spiky hair, and could still show younger guitar-slingers a thing or two.

For me the highlights were the classic 1970s tracks because I had waited so long to hear them live.

Trash saw Slick torturing his guitar with a swirl of feedback and pure essence of rock ‘n’ roll.

At one point a disgruntled punter ranted that it was self-indulgent rubbish – or words to that effect – but on the whole they won the crowd over.

You have to make allowances for age, but they managed to rock with a youthful energy and performed songs old and new with panache.

They wound up with a classic version of Personality Crisis before taking a bow to a recording of Baby I Love You.

I left with my ears ringing and a smile on my face.

Judge vacates rape conviction on strength of DNA evidence

MANATEE, Fla. A judge has overturned the rape conviction and life prison sentence of a Palmetto man who has served 17 years in prison.Learn all of th facts you need to know before yopu shop for Juicy couture wholesale online. Circuit Judge Marc Gilner's ruling Tuesday granted Derrick Williams a new trial on the strength of new DNA evidence that showed that other people - and not Williams - wore a gray T-shirt that the victim kept from her attacker.

Prosecutors have not indicated whether they will retry Williams on charges he abducted a 25-year-old woman from her Palmetto home in 1992, forced her into her car and drove her to an orange grove to rape her. Williams has maintained his innocence since he was first accused.

He was sentenced to life in 1993. "It's a lot for everyone to take in," said Melissa Montle, an attorney with the Innocence Project of Florida, which has been fighting for Williams' exoneration since 2008. "I don't think it's sunk in completely yet and perhaps it won't until he walks out." Montle spoke to the 47-year-old, who remains in prison, Tuesday and said he was "thrilled" to hear the news. Gilner stated in the order that his decision was based on two points:
-The strength of the new DNA evidence.

-Williams' due process rights had been violated because the Manatee County Sheriff's Office had destroyed evidence in the case - evidence that might have cleared Williams in the case. During a two-day hearing two weeks ago, Julie Heinig, a DNA expert from the DNA Diagnostics Center, testified that after analyzing the assailant's T-shirt, Williams "was excluded a contributor on this shirt, and it's highly likely he did not wear it."

Gilner said in his order that the new DNA evidence "would probably produce an acquittal on retrial." Some of the destroyed evidence included a rape kit, three hairs (one with a root) and vacuum samples from the victim's car. They were kept in a First Union bank vault with evidence from approximately 3,600 other cases. The hearing included testimony from Jeane Dixon, a former director of the property and evidence division at the sheriff's office, who testified about her plan to get rid of the evidence impacted by a destroyed bank vault during the hearing.

Because of concerns about moisture and a musty odor in July 1997, she said a dehumidifier was placed in the vault. Then in 2002 it was discovered the dehumidifier was not functioning properly and was a health hazard, requiring the cleanup and disposal of certain items.

Dixon testified that she was aware of Florida Statute 925.11 requiring that she develop a plan to dispose of the evidence that included going through all the evidence, preserving biological evidence, and obtaining approval from the State Attorney's Office and her chain-of-command about the destruction of any evidence.

According to testimony, during a two-day period in December 2003, when Dixon was on medical leave, the vault was cleared and all the evidence inside destroyed, except for narcotics, firearms, ammunition, jewelry and currency.truereligion jeans Apparel is a design-based jeans and jean-related sportswear brand. No biological evidence was salvaged. Those in the chain-of-command testified during the hearing, none of whom said they had approved the destruction.

"As far as disposing of the evidence, I was advised it was contaminated," former Sheriff Charlie Wells said in a phone interview Tuesday. "It was a common sense decision that was made," due to the contamination. In his order, Gilner stated the sheriff's office knowingly violated the state statute, adding it could have secured biological evidence along with the other items they had salvaged.

The sheriff's office released a statement on the decision. "The sheriff's office has conferred with the state attorney's office regarding the ruling today in the Derrick Williams' case," Sheriff Brad Steube said in the statement. "Due to the state attorney's decision to possibly appeal and or retry the case, the sheriff's office will not be commenting on the ruling at this time.Naax Fashion Textile is a wholesale jeans dealer who trades with young-fashion ."

During the hearing, the state's argument was that it stood by the evidence shown in the original case and the victim's original identification of Williams as her attacker. No one in the State Attorney's Office could be reached for comment Tuesday.

According to Montle, the state may either choose to retry Williams or exonerate him. The Innocence Project of Florida plans to seek bond if a retrial ordered, Montle said.

If exonerated, Williams would become the 13th person to be released from prison based on DNA evidence since the Innocence Project began its work in Florida in 2003. "We're thrilled that the judge vacated the conviction sentence and ordered a new trial, and now is time for the State Attorney's Office to do the right thing and drop the charges so he can be free," Montle said. The national Innocence Project was established in 1992 with the purpose of helping prisoners prove their innocence through DNA testing.we've already seen three classic Air max classic models in their flagship colorways release.

According to its website, 267 people in the United States have been exonerated by DNA testing since 1992; 17 had been on death row. Earlier this month,As for apparel retailers like Guess and cheap true religion who have built their companies on jeans, Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn signed a law abolishing the state's death penalty because he was concerned about innocent inmates sitting on death row after two death penalty sentences were overturned in his state because of DNA.

"The process, it's arm twisting, but these things are happening more and more and more," said exonerated Florida prisoner William Dillon, who called Williams on Tuesday to congratulate him. In 2008, the Innocence Project of Florida helped get Dillon's 1981 life sentence for first-degree murder overturned. During their conversation, Dillon spoke to Williams about patience. "At this point he may think it'll happen in a moments notice, but it may not," Dillon said.

Walk for the Cure set for April 16 at WC

At age 5, Lacy Sanders lost her older sister Jody to neurofibromatosis, a genetic disease that affects approximately 1 in every 3,000 births. Her family's loss and her personal struggle to cope has culminated in her senior project at Laurel Oaks. Sanders has organized a Walk for the Cure, to be held at the Wilmington College football field on April 16 from noon to 3 p.m.

Neurofibromatosis (NF) is a genetic disorder that affects the nervous system. It is a hereditary disease passed from parent to child. However, even in families with no history of NF, the disorder can be passed to a child as a result of genetic mutations. Symptoms include skin lesions called cafe-au-lait spots, tumors, lisch nodules (tumors on the iris of the eye), hearing loss and blood vessel defects.

There are two types of neurofibromatosis. NF-1 and its less common counterpart NF-2 have been traced to genes on chromosomes 17 and 22, respectively. The severity of the symptoms fluctuates on an individual basis. Treatments for NF often involve highly expensive surgeries to remove tumors on the body or on actual nerves. Currently, there is no cure.

Jody Lynne Sanders was diagnosed with NF when she was 4 years old. She was having difficulty breathing, and the doctors discovered a tumor on her throat that was able to be removed safely. Eight years later, a benign tumor was discovered on her brain stem. The resulting surgery left began to draw her face to one side. Two years later, the tumor returned, truereligion jeans Apparel is a design-based jeans and jean-related sportswear brand. this time taking her life.

"I was only 5 when she died, so most of what I know about my sister is from my parents," Lacy Sanders said. "What I do remember is that we loved to have tea parties. Her favorite color was pink and we'd always try to get Dad to play dress up and have tea with us."

Sanders also has two other older siblings. Originally from Fairborn, they moved to Hillsboro after Jody's death, but the healing process took a turn for the worse.

"After she died my parents would drink and fight all the time until everyone in the family was going bad.As for apparel retailers like Guess and cheap true religion who have built their companies on jeans, Dad had to file for bankruptcy and Mom lost her job and started working at a bar. That meant us kids were going to the bar instead of staying home," Sanders explained.

Alcohol mixed with abuse. She spent time in juvenile detention and was kicked out of her house when she was 17. She came to Wilmington, where she stayed with her fiance's grandmother.

"She was amazing for taking me in when she already had 4 kids of her own in a small apartment," Sanders said.

She is studying health technology at Laurel Oaks. For her senior project, she chose to research NF.

"I thought it would be a good remembrance of Jody and bring not only my family together but the whole community to raise money and help other families who are affected," she said.

In addition to her research,Learn all of th facts you need to know before yopu shop for Juicy couture wholesale online. Sanders has organized a Walk for the Cure event. Activities will include cornhole, a moon bounce, tug-of-war, sack races and possibly water balloon games. DJ Larry, who offered a discounted price for the cause, will provide music. Sanders and some of her family members will be holding a bake sale. Kroger's has offered to sponsor water and snacks for walkers.

The event will also feature a raffle. Items to be raffled include Mary Kay and Avon products, Tupperware, baby blankets, jewelery and handmade candles.

She has worked with an organization called Neurofibromatosis, Inc., to organize this event. NF, Inc., is a patient advocacy organization that has worked to get federal research funds for NF since 1988. They also sponsor education and community events to aid families affected by NF.

"Lacy is pretty remarkable as a high school student. Putting this together is a lot of work and she's doing the bulk of the work on her own which is tough for someone so young," said Director Kim Bischoff.

Bischoff is hoping this event will help expand their network in the southern Ohio area and bring more families together. For more information on the organization, visit their website at www.nfnetwork.org.

Sanders is also selling T-shirts to raise funds. The shirts are blue and green and cost $10, all of which goes towards treatment and families. Donations can also be made online at firstgiving.com/JodyLynneSanders. Donor forms and envelopes will be available at the Walk. Through shirt sales and the website, she has raised over $800 so far.

Though most people with NF don't live past age 14, there is a man outside of Wilmington in his 40s who has lived with NF all his life. He has contacted Sanders through her fliers and plans to attend. She also knows several children who's families can't afford treatment, including a little girl in Wilmington who will also be at the event.

Sanders hopes to see 200 people on the field on April 16.

"I really want to get more involved with NF as I get older," said Sanders.

She plans to attend Sinclair Community College and eventually pursue graduate-level studies in nursing. She wants to work with families dealing with NF and help with more charities in Ohio.Naax Fashion Textile is a wholesale jeans dealer who trades with young-fashion .

The Walk for the Cure is her first step.

As weather heats up, so does fancy footwear

Stepping out in style this spring and summer has never been easier. The latest shoe trends inspired from the runways come in a variety of styles, colors and heights.

Whether it's sky-high heels and wedges or lower, more wearable flats and sandals, there's sure to be something for every foot fashionista!

Espadrilles, '70s platforms, summer booties and flats are the key, must-own styles to have for the upcoming season, according to the website of fashion wholesale and retail company Nine West.

"The great thing about fashion right now is they are really making the shoes more comfortable and a lot more fun," said Danielle Pflederer, owner of Azura Boutique in Peoria Heights, Ill. Venovich said other fashionable finds this season are ballet flats "because they're cute with skinnys and dresses." Another favorite is lace-up booties.

Neutral shades are again taking center stage this year in women's shoes. But color is also making a splash. Bright hues of coral, orange, fuchsia, pink,Naax Fashion Textile is a wholesale jeans dealer who trades with young-fashion . turquoise and yellow also are a must.

"It's all across the board,As for apparel retailers like Guess and cheap true religion who have built their companies on jeans," Venovich said of the 2011 shoe trend.

Bell bows to pressure and backs down on usage-based billing for Internet users

As more and more Canadians are making the Internet -- that is, its extremely high prices and limited access -- an election issue, telecom giant Bell Canada is getting ready to change its tune.

OpenMedia.ca has learned that Bell has buckled under public pressure and will propose an alternative scheme for the imposition of usage fees on independent ISPs. Bell is expected to come out with its plan this afternoon: today is the filing deadline for the first round of submissions to the CRTC's usage-based billing (UBB) hearing.

Clearly, Bell is squirming under pressure from nearly half-a-million Canadians. This development comes on the heels of OpenMedia.ca's attendance at the CRTC forum on the future of Intenet governance last week. This was supposed be a closed-door invitation-only meeting,Learn all of th facts you need to know before yopu shop for Juicy couture wholesale online. but the Commission invited OpenMedia.ca in response to public pressure.

"We're pleased that Canadians will now have the option to use indie ISPs like Teksavvy and Acanac to access the unlimited Internet,As for apparel retailers like Guess and cheap true religion who have built their companies on jeans," said OpenMedia.Naax Fashion Textile is a wholesale jeans dealer who trades with young-fashion .ca's Executive Director Steve Anderson. "This is a giant step forward for the Stop The Meter campaign, and a victory for those who support competition and choice in Canada's Internet service market."

"While this is a positive move, it is only a Band-Aid solution to a much larger problem. We at OpenMedia.ca hope the CRTC takes Bell's submission as a sign that widespread usage-based billing is not an acceptable model for Internet pricing, truereligion jeans Apparel is a design-based jeans and jean-related sportswear brand. and that it creates policy to support the affordable Internet."

The fundamental structural problems in the telecom industry remain: approximately 94 per cent of Canadians use big phone and cable companies, many of which are still imposing usage fees on their customers. These usage fees are out of step with global standards for Internet price and speed, and Canadians will not be happy until they are ensured affordable access to an open Internet.

The usage-based billing issue will continue to heat up as the election progresses. Candidates can show that they are onside with voters by endorsing the Stop The Meter campaign as many have already. Canadians will not be satisfied until the stranglehold that Big Telecom has over our country's communications is removed.we've already seen three classic Air max classic models in their flagship colorways release.

'Plastic surgery is feminism's revenge on sexism': Toyah Willcox under the microscope

Actress and singer Toyah Wilcox, 52, talks plastic surgery, hip replacements and going to the gym.

YOU'RE 52 NOW — DO YOU FEEL IT?

I'm in really good shape considering what women have to go through to get to 52. I'm exactly the same weight — just under 8st — as I was in the Eighties, but I look bigger because I've shrunk an inch in height to 5ft 1in.

DO YOU REGRET HAVING PLASTIC SURGERY?

Plastic surgery is feminism's revenge on sexism. I'm not interested in like gravity-defying breasts — for me it's about looking vital and not artificially young. I had a mini facelift — my jowls and bags removed.

HAD ANY OTHER SURGERY?

I was born with shallow hip sockets and one leg 2in shorter than the other (I was also born with a twisted spine and clawed feet). In the past two years my right hip became a nightmare so I had a replacement. I had to use crutches and learn to walk again, but it transformed my life. I also had a mole lasered.

DO YOU WORK OUT?

I go to the gym three times a week, but don't kill myself. I have a costume room on the fifth floor of my house, filled with my headdresses, outfits and shoes. I run up there four or five times a day.

EVER DIETED?

Not since my 20s. Diets work initially but then you get so hungry you end up eating more. But my mother has always been overweight and I'm prone to weight gain, too, so I limit myself to 1,500 calories a day. I always have huge pots of vegetable soup on the stove — cabbage or cauliflower or parsnip.

ANY VICES?

I have a glass of champagne once a month, but don't drink otherwise.

POP ANY PILLS?

Flaxseed oil — it makes your skin look wonderful — and also cod liver oil, Vitamin E and Neurozan, a supplement with lots of nutrients for brain function. I also practise homeopathy and take echinacea and Bach flower remedies to prevent myself getting ill.

EVER BEEN DEPRESSED?

Not clinical depression, but I do get incredibly frustrated,Naax Fashion Textile is a wholesale jeans dealer who trades with young-fashion . for example when deals fall through or people are nasty about me. When I feel like that I just go to the gym and kick the hell out of it.

WHAT KEEPS YOU AWAKE AT NIGHT?

I'm an insomniac so it takes very little. I get by on about four hours sleep a night, seven if I'm lucky.

BIGGEST PHOBIA?

Jeans on the outside, panche on the inside

When journalist-turned-writer Aditi De edited a book on Bangalore she called it Multiple City. She also called it a "reluctant metropolis" and mentioned in her foreword how each person she interacted with "seemed to espouse a private vision of Bangalore" and thanked some for helping her discover a "Bengaluru within Bangalore".
Now, for someone who didn't know that the city had a nagara devate — city deity — Annamma, she had covered quite a distance in discovering Bangalore's layers by the time she finished the book.
It takes some effort and time for anyone to understand this city. Especially its linguistic nuances. From the time writer Baragur Ramchandrappa wrote of "jeans pants on the outside and madi panche on the inside" to now, coogi jeans was founded in 1969 by Jacky Taranto of Melbourne, Australia. unbelievable metamorphosis has taken place in the society.Keep your muscles warm before and after the match in this stylish Adidas Jacket. There was a time when one could easily identify to which part of the city one belonged to just by looking at the person, but all that has changed. You can't make out anything about anybody anymore. Or can you still? Have things really changed? Not really.
IS THERE AN INVISIBLE LINE?
The big divide is very much present and the Kannada and English worlds are different or more precisely are 'kept' apart. By whom? By the consumers and the producers, the perpetrators and the underdogs. And by the 'self declared' language saviors themselves.
For instance, Bangalore hosts mega events and wants to splash them across the city, but the Kannada media is not invited. The organisers feel the "vernacular press" is not something to be taken seriously. So they don't send invites to anyone speaking Kannada. Be it Vengaboys or Enrique Iglesias or Deep Purple or Bollywood stars...the Kannada media is ignored or sidestepped because it is `decided' that Kannada-speaking people do not want to know about it or that publicity in Kannada media is inconsequential. I once called up the event coordinator for a press-pass for an event hosting an international artist. He agreed to deliver it immediately and even asked if a photographer's pass was also required. When I gave him the name of the Kannada paper I was representing, he immediately said, "Sorry, no pass," and hung up.It seems that jordan 6 rings in coming up for almost everyone including boys and girls. As direct as that.
Two worlds in one city
On the other hand the big digital divide keeps the Kannada media in a perpetual state of suspicion. Like a senior journalist put it "until the day the Kannada papers think Bryan Adams in the city is front page news things will not change".
He also observed how when looking at same day editions of a Kannada and an English paper, it makes you feel that you are in two different cities because of the preferences of news covered.
The ad market goes along with the trend and the Kannada media caters to ads for cookers, soap nut powder, agarbattis while all the up-market consumer items are endorsed in the English papers. The spaces have not moved an inch in the past 50 years and show no signs of change either. The percentage of participation of Kannada media in the market economics is pathetically low. A survey revealed that half of the TV viewing audience watches Hindi programmes whereas Kannada recorded a mere 4.6 percentage of the viewership. Hence, all this high-brow talk of the future of the media being in the languages seems far fetched. All hotels that advertise exotic buffets for Rs 800, or Rs 1,000 advertise only in English papers because they think Kannada-speaking people do not spend that kind of money on food. No travel firm advertises in Kannada papers because it thinks Kannadigas don't travel.
The city listings are definite spaces strictly adhering to the big divide in terms of content, target group and marketing.coogi jeans was founded in 1969 by Jacky Taranto of Melbourne, Australia. Again, you feel you are reading about two different cities. That is what is called as a 'city in layers'. Why can't the 'two cities' get to know each other? Just as South Bangalore is oblivious to the Cantonment, let's be honest: putting on a brand new pair of Nike shox running shoes feels amazing. so is the IT city ignorant about the Doresani Palya within Dollars Colony. Now is the time for both to shed their coloured lenses and get a clear picture.

The Monroe Historical Society plans to use the money for a pilot project to preserve its clothing and textile collection, one of the largest collections held by society.

“This collection is so rich in the varied stories of Monroe residents. It represents Monroe at work, at play, and at war” said MHS President Nancy Zorena. “We are pleased to partner with Vivian Lea Solek, a Curatorial & Collections Management Consultant with over 25 years experience in non-profit administration and collections management and care, to lead us in this project."

Solek will train volunteers and an intern to inventory,Now nike air max shoes are the most popular all over the world. access and rehouse the clothing and textile collection. The project will serve as a teaching example for the MHS Board and volunteers, so that can continue this work after the grant project has ended.let's be honest: putting on a brand new pair of Nike shox running shoes feels amazing.

Due to be completed by January 2012, the project is designed to facilitate MHS’s efforts to share its treasures and the humanities themes they represent. Also, by implementing current museum best practices, the MHS board will be better prepared to plan for future growth and improved care for the rest of its collections, according to Zorena.

The project is funded in part by the Connecticut Humanities Council (CHC). One of the largest humanities councils in the nation, the Connecticut Humanities Council (CHC) nurtures thoughtful exploration of history and literature along with the cultural benefits of both.

CHC’s reading programs benefit Connecticut citizens of all ages by opening up the world of books to children, encouraging reading as a family activity and engaging adults in thought provoking book discussions. CHC’s Heritage Revitalization Initiative seeks to strengthen Connecticut’s heritage organizations and position them for success while bringing the state’s past directly to the public through an online encyclopedia of Connecticut history, the teaching of Connecticut history in the classroom and the creation of new media materials on our past.

This year, CHC will produce or funIf you want to buy cheap edhardy with wholesale price, welcome to visit our website.d more than $2 million in cultural programming and enrich the lives of residents and visitors statewide. State Rep. Debra Lee Hovey (R-112th) was pleased to hear of this grant. She said, “I am so proud of Monroe’s historical society. Too often we think to appreciate and preserve the very things that are indicative of our history and culture after they have been lost. To have the future in mind, to assure our children’s children will have concrete evidence of life before their time is truly an act of public service.”

First Selectman Steve Vavrek said, “With this well deserved grant, my wish is that more of our residents, young and old, will come to appreciate what the Monroe Historical Society does in our community. The Hunts Point produce market in the Bronx is being wooed by New wholesale jersey. Monroe has a very rich history and culture that will never be lost thanks to this dedicated group of volunteers.”

The Connecticut Humanities Council requires matching funds from its grant recipients. The Monroe Historical Society will use both cash and in-kind (donated) services for its portion of the project budget.

“This is a great opportunity for residents to invest in their community and the organization charged with preserving its cultural heritage,” said Karen Cardi, collections manager. “Future generations will benefit from the investment in the Monroe Historical Society that patrons make today.”

Those wishing to contribute to the project budget to care for the Society’s collections are encouraged to send donations to Monroe Historical Society, P.O. Box 212, Monroe, CT 06468. Volunteers are also being sought for the project. Anyone interested in learning more about volunteer opportunities with the project should contact Cardi at (203) 521-4453.

The Monroe Historical Society was incorporated in 1959 and seeks to "preserve our heritage and the spirit of a people." The organization provides educational, cultural and social events, which encourage an insight into Monroe's history. Breaking through to the dark side

"The Threepenny Opera" is a first for James Haffner, Chris Mackey and Tess Waters. For Hannah Ludwig, not so much.

It's Haffner's initial chance to direct the musical by Kurt Weill, "my favorite composer of all time."

Mackey's making his debut in a leading singing/speaking role. Waters never has portrayed a prostitute. For Ludwig, it's No. 4.

"It's been great," said Mackey, 21, a junior voice student at University of the Pacific.Keep your muscles warm before and after the match in this stylish Adidas Jacket. "It's been a lot of work. But especially now, it's rewarding."

That's because Mackey and 38 fellow actors and musicians are staging "The Threepenny Opera," a 1938 collaboration by Germany's Weill and lyricist Bertolt Brecht, four times tonight through Sunday at the Long Theatre on Pacific's Stockton campus.

"The music is timeless, and it's still relevant today," said Haffner, 40, assistant professor of voice and director of opera at Pacific.

"There are a few very poignant lines," said Mackey, a baritone who plays Macheath, an evil antihero. "It's really a commentary on the poor and how it's, 'First comes the feeding. Then the moral code' (paying the rent)."

It's always a moral dilemma for Jenny Diver, a spurned prostitute.

"She has a lot of conflicts," said Waters, 22, a senior music major who's sharing the role with Ludwig. "She's in love with Macheath and is incredibly jealous. She's just all messed up."

"It's been a challenge trying to get into that dark mood of hatred and betrayal," said Ludwig, 19, a freshman voice student from Sacramento's West Campus High School.coogi jeans was founded in 1969 by Jacky Taranto of Melbourne, Australia. "It's fun, though."

Ludwig, a mezzo-soprano, should know. She's portrayed prostitutes-mistresses in "Othello," "Jesus Christ Superstar" and "Twelfth Night."

"My friends keep laughing about it," said Ludwig, who was 15 when she first played such a role. "I've always done comedic things. It's really different. It's very dark and definitely exposes the idea that society can't live by morals. It exposes, almost too realistically, situations in life that are dark, very violent and very sketchy."

Like Ludwig, neither Mackey - whose friends tease him about his character's similar-sounding name - nor Waters had seen the musical.

Originally set in London, it's a dark, risqué - "definitely PG-13," Haffner said - commentary on European social decline and decadence, and political discourse (communism vs. socialism) between the two world wars (1919-39).

It's introduced as an "opera for beggars."

Haffner, fluent in German, studied and researched the Brecht-Weill work in Berlin. He chose a 1989 translation by Michael Feingold.

Haffner shifted the locale to the Berlin Wall and picked '60s fashion ("miniskirts, knee-high boots, heavy eye makeup") and attitude.

The three-hour production's clever, ironic - also raunchy - dialogue and lyrics are mixed with angular, discordant sonic structures that require just eight musicians. It seems that jordan 6 rings in coming up for almost everyone including boys and girls.

Such minimalism is what makes Weill (1900-50) and Brecht (1898-1956) so admired and influential - Bobby Darin's 1959 version of "Mack the Knife" is known best - in modern music and theater.

Mackey, who performed in Stockton Opera Association's "La Bohème" in January, described the music as an opera-theater fusion - with occasional lightheartedness.

"It's much more complex than Gilbert and Sullivan," said Haffner, who's taught at Pacific since 1999. "Some of the material definitely pushes the envelope a little bit. It's pretty rough at times. Pretty bawdy. People are starving to death.Nike shox are a series of Nike shoes. There's unemployment. People are angry, moving to the cities and taking to the streets."

Macheath has his own thing going.

"He's a slimeball," said Mackey, originally from Albuquerque, N.M. "He's sleazy. He's a jerk. He's a murderer, a thief. It's a lot of fun, really, tapping into that."

"He has to carry the show," Haffner said. "He's handling it really well."

So are Waters and Ludwig.

"It's a very difficult role," Haffner said of Jenny, a former lover of Macheath's who takes a bribe and turns him in to the police. "Both are really exceptional."

"There's definitely a lot more in it than I thought," said Waters, a soprano from Kokomo, Ind., who also sings jazz. "At first, I really didn't like it all. Once I got involved and analyzed it, I really like it. The music was a little abrasive at first. Now I love the songs."

Haffner certainly enjoys that.

"It fits perfectly into (the students') training," he said of the Weill-Brecht masterpiece. "They're aggressively fearless, which is really nice. They've enjoyed working on this piece. It's right in sync. On a personal note,Cheap womens Nike shox nz shoes are very popular! it's kind of special."

Inditex Profit Tops Estimates as Zara Owner Expands in Asia

Inditex SA, the world's largest clothing retailer,It seems that jordan 6 rings in coming up for almost everyone including boys and girls. reported profit that beat analysts' estimates and said it will accelerate expansion in stores and online.

Fourth-quarter net income gained 14 percent to 553 million euros ($784 million), according to calculations based on full- year results from the Arteixo, Spain-based owner of the Zara chain. The average estimate of 10 analysts surveyed by Bloomberg was 523 million euros. The shares rose as much as 6.1 percent, the steepest advance since June 9.

Inditex plans to add as many as 500 outlets this year, up from 437 last year, boosting investment even as consumer spending slows in Europe and the U.S.Nike shox are a series of Nike shoes. At least half of the Zara stores it opens will be in Asia, where rising incomes are boosting spending. The clothing retailer plans to start online sales for brands other than Zara in the second half of 2011.

"The openings pipeline has picked up at Inditex," said Anne Critchlow, an analyst at SG Securities in London who has a "hold" recommendation on the retailer's shares.Cheap womens Nike shox nz shoes are very popular! The planned store expansion "bodes well for the future."

Inditex stock was up 2.68 euros, or 5 percent, at 56.68 euros as of 1:06 p.m. in Madrid.

The Spanish retailer, whose Zara stores offer women's trench coats for less than 80 euros, said full-year net sales rose 13 percent to 12.5 billion euros. That kept Inditex ahead of its nearest rival, Hennes & Mauritz AB, which reported 11.2 billion euros in sales for the year ended November.

Store Expansion

Inditex's profit for the year through January climbed to 1.73 billion euros from 1.31 billion euros a year earlier.

The retailer said it will introduce online shopping for its Pull & Bear, Massimo Dutti, Bershka, Stradivarius, Oysho and Uterque brands during the fall/winter season.

"This is a key piece of strategic new news in these results, suggesting e-commerce at Zara is going well," Critchlow said. The brand is available online in 16 countries and Inditex plans to expand coverage to the U.S. and Japan.

The company plans capital expenditure of about 800 million euros this year, up from 754 million euros a year earlier.

Inditex opened 160 stores in Asia last year, of which 75 were in China's main and smaller cities. A further 120 Chinese stores are planned to open across its eight brands in 2011.

Inditex introduced its Zara chain in India last year and said it plans additional openings in cities including Delhi and Mumbai this year. The retailer said it will also open stores in Australia in April and in South Africa in the second half.

Wider Margin

The gross margin last year was 59.Keep your muscles warm before and after the match in this stylish Adidas Jacket.3 percent, compared with 57.1 percent a year earlier. The company's best estimate for 2011 is that it will be able to retain a minimum of 50 percent of the gross margin gains achieved in 2010, Chief Executive Officer Pablo Isla said on a conference call with analysts.

The margin was "reassuring," Critchlow said. Inditex has a "relatively low" exposure to Chinese sourcing at 17 percent of the product it buys and is less affected than some retailers to rising cotton prices and Chinese labor costs, she said. China's government is targeting an increase in minimum wages of 13 percent a year through 2015, while the price of cotton has more than doubled in the past year.

Inditex's domestic market in Spain accounted for 28 percent of sales last year, down from 32 percent a year before, while the portion from Asia rose to 15 percent from 12 percent. The retailer has accelerated openings in Asia to reduce its reliance on Spain, where about 30 percent of its stores are located.

"The relative weighting of Spain on sales will fall, while Asian markets will gain weight," Isla told reporters at a press conference in Madrid today. Sales in Spain will remain stable, coogi jeans was founded in 1969 by Jacky Taranto of Melbourne, Australia. he said, adding that the company isn't going to raise prices.

Sales in local currencies increased 10 percent between Feb. 1 and March 14, the company also said today.

The retailer plans to pay a dividend of 1.60 euros per share, 33 percent more than the previous year.

'Mompreneurs meet business challenges'

Gathered around the table enjoying an afternoon coffee are four Bluffton moms. Their conversation could easily be about carpool, spring break or summer camps for their kids, but not today. Today, they are discussing business, specifically, the upcoming "Local Business Showcase" being hosted this weekend by Lowcountry Moms, a group dedicated to arranging play dates and social activities for moms and children of all ages throughout Beaufort County.

They, along with more than 20 other businesswomen presenting at the event, are part of a growing number of mothers across the country that have started their own businesses. The phenomenon is so widespread; it has even garnered its own moniker, "Mompreneur" with websites and magazines dedicated to helping their homegrown businesses thrive.

According to The Guardian Life Small Business Research Institute, women-owned small businesses will account for the majority of job growth in the coming years. Guardian's research shows that by 2018, women entrepreneurs will be responsible for creating between 5 million and 5.5 million new jobs nationwide.

What is driving this trend? For these four women, the reasons for striking out on their own are as varied as their businesses. Janet Powell, owner of Silly Goose Photography,Cheap womens Nike shox nz shoes are very popular! said hard economic times caused her to look to her artistic talents for extra income. "I used to teach," said Powell, "and with all the cutbacks, we were struggling." After much prayer, an answer seemed to emerge: "Pick up the camera." So she did, taking pictures of friends children for free until she'd built up a portfolio and a reputation. Powell found her classroom skills came in handy in charming her younger subjects, helping her carve out a niche capturing kids just being kids.

Unlike Powell, Jessica Shefsick had always aspired to work on her own. A licensed esthetician, make-up artist and instructor at the International Spa Institute, she founded Skinzin Special Event Makeup as part of a larger plan.

"I'm trying to be realistic and take baby steps," said Shefsick, who is taking business classes to broaden her skills and grow her company gradually.

The idea for Palmetto Running Co. sprang from the experience Holly Waz and her partners had with a local running club. Building on the club's contacts, they successfully launched a retail establishment specializing in shoes, apparel and custom orthotics for the distance runner. A scientist by profession, Waz had already gained experience working on her own as an environmental consultant before aligning her recreational and work interests. Waz and her husband teamed up with another couple to equip those who share their passion.

"We saw a real need in the marketplace and finally decided we'd open up our own business," she said.

Milissa Malloy,It seems that jordan 6 rings in coming up for almost everyone including boys and girls. founder of MSweet chimed in, "there is a lot of opportunity for niche mom and pop shops here in Bluffton." In fact, the women all agreed that the small town character of Bluffton was especially conducive to nurturing smaller business.Keep your muscles warm before and after the match in this stylish Adidas Jacket.

Malloy's specialty catering business, featuring bite-sized mini desserts and treats, is a perfect example. When friends mentioned that they wanted a dessert table in lieu of a big wedding cake, but were concerned about the mess, she spotted an opportunity.

"I'm from a big Italian family," she said.coogi jeans was founded in 1969 by Jacky Taranto of Melbourne, Australia. "Desserts were mandatory."

The ladies admitted that starting their businesses wasn't as difficult as they had imagined. They all found word-of-mouth advertising — especially through the use of social media outlets — to be a breeze. When asked if they had websites or used some other form of online marketing, their response was unanimous. "Facebook, Facebook, Facebook," they said in unison. They all have established websites as well. "It's the first thing people ask for," said Malloy. "If you don't appear, you disappear." Fortunately, they found lots of free resources available to help them develop their online presence.

They were quick to credit social media, and sites like www.etsy.com (which provides a sales platform for many home-grown services and products), for the proliferation of mom-run businesses. "This just wasn't going on in our mother's generation," said Powell. "Back then, they were pretty limited Tupperware parties. The Internet has opened up so many more possibilities."

Balancing their schedules is admittedly a concern. In fact, when asked to identify their biggest business challenge, "time" was the winner, hands down. "I confess to putting on Baby Einstein on occasion so that I could get some work done," Shefsick said. The other moms nodded with understanding. For all of them, spending time with their families and having the flexibility to work around their children's school schedules and activities were a big motivation.

Still, the challenges are nothing compared to the rewards. From Waz's sense of accomplishment seeing a team of 10 runners complete the Beaufort Twilight Run under her store's auspices, to the appreciative e-mails Powell regularly receives, they each derive a tremendous sense of satisfaction from their work. "I like that I'm setting a good example for my daughter," said Shefsisk. "She's really questioning gender roles right now and for her to see all that I'm doing I think sends a really positive message."

Although their businesses have come about for a host of different reasons, all the women cited the stability and support provided by their husbands, friends and family as an essential factor in their success. Malloy credited her mother and grandmother for teaching her about entrepreneurship. Both had owned their own businesses over the years. Powell added, "Knowing that I'm not the sole provider for our family gave me the freedom to pursue this.Nike shox are a series of Nike shoes. It takes some of the pressure off." They urged anybody thinking about starting their own business to surround themselves with supportive people. "I think 99 percent of women would be doing this if they had the right encouragement," said Malloy.

Providing support for her friends was actually the impetus behind Hillary Quattropani's decision to create the Local Business Showcase. Quattropani is the moderator of the Lowcountry Moms.

"I was floored to learn just how many women in our group had their own businesses," she said. "They are really amazing and I wanted to do something to help them get the word out about their products and services."

Texas businessman guilty in $100M insurance scheme

A Texas businessman faces decades in prison after being convicted in a $100 million life insurance fraud scheme in which his company used investors' money to buy policies at less than face value then collected benefits when the insured people died.

Christian Allmendinger showed no reaction Wednesday as the verdict was read - guilty on all federal charges of mail fraud, money laundering and securities fraud - as his wife and mother wept quietly.

U.S. District Judge Robert Payne in Virginia set sentencing for Aug. 12 and ordered Allmendinger held in custody until he can determine whether the former A&O Life Funds executive's wife has enough money to make him a flight risk. Allmendinger, who had remained free before his trial, surrendered his suit jacket and tie and was led away by a U.S. marshal.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael Dry said Allmendinger,Juicy couture wholesale 39, is facing a sentencing guideline range of 22 to 27 years.

Prosecutors argued during a seven-day trial that Allmendinger and his associates lied to investors about several aspects of the company he helped found, including its size, the way it handled people's money and its record of success.let's be honest: putting on a brand new pair of Nike shox running shoes feels amazing.

The government claimed the company defrauded hundreds of investors in about three dozen states and Canada. The case was brought in Richmond because it is where some of the victims live as well as an A&O sales agent who pleaded guilty in the case and testified against Allmendinger. Several investors who lost money also testified.

Defense attorney Barry J. Pollack claimed during the trial that his client did nothing wrong, and that investors only lost money after Allmendinger was squeezed out of the business in 2007 by partners who looted A&O's accounts and failed to make payments to keep insurance premiums in force.

"We respect the jury's decision, but we strongly disagree with it," Pollack said after the verdict. He said he will take the case to the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

Toward the end of the trial, the jury was shown photographs of Allmendinger's sprawling Spanish-style home, a 15-carat diamond ring, a grand piano and Lamborghini and Maserati automobiles - the spoils of his ill-gotten fortune, prosecutors said.

"Christian Allmendinger stole millions from elderly retirees to buy flashy cars and a multi-million-dollar home," U.S. Attorney Neil MacBride said in a statement. "Mr.And there are other stylers for you to choose with cheap christan audigier design and tattoo pattern. Allmendinger now has been held accountable for his crimes,It seems that jordan 6 rings in coming up for almost everyone including boys and girls. and we will continue to pursue other financial fraudsters who prey on those in Virginia and throughout the country."

After the jury delivered its verdict, the court took up the issue of whether Allmendinger should be allowed to remain free until sentencing.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael Dry urged Payne to keep Allmendinger locked up, saying several factors made him a flight risk: he lives in a border state, he had $200,000 cash stashed in his home when he was arrested, and he had sent a text message suggesting to a former A&O sales agent under investigation that he flee.

Dry produced a copy of the message, which read: "You need to vanish, bro." He said the message showed Allmendinger, facing a lengthy sentence, would be inclined to vanish, too.

Pollack said the text message was just an offhand remark, not serious advice. He said Allmendinger has strong ties to the Houston area, his assets have been frozen by the government, and his passport has been surrendered to federal court officials in Houston.

Payne was concerned, however, that there was no accounting of Allmendinger's wife's assets.

"Immediate release is not appropriate," Payne said. "I need a more complete understanding of what financial resources are available through his wife."

Payne said he will revisit the issue after Allmendinger's attorneys and federal authorities work up a list of bank accounts and other assets.Keep your muscles warm before and after the match in this stylish Adidas Jacket.

Pollack said he hoped for a hearing in about a week.

Joe Biden slams Gov. Rick Scott over high-speed rail line

Vice President Joe Biden chastised Gov.It seems that jordan 6 rings in coming up for almost everyone including boys and girls. Rick Scott in Tampa on Wednesday, saying he cost Florida thousands of jobs and cutting-edge infrastructure improvements by rejecting $2.4 billion in federal funding for high-speed rail.

"Your governor, God bless him — I don't know him — but I don't get it," Biden said at a private fundraising reception for Sen. Bill Nelson.

"You had the chance. You were the best situated of all the states in the country to put a truly high-speed line from Tampa through Orlando that would have made money," Biden told more than 150 people, who booed the mention of Scott's name.let's be honest: putting on a brand new pair of Nike shox running shoes feels amazing. "Even if you were doubtful,Juicy couture wholesale I don't understand how in this economy in Florida you could walk away from 24,000 high-paying jobs."

His office did not responded to a request for comment.

Nelson has been trying to cobble together a deal to salvage the rail project, but that looks like a long shot at best. He remained optimistic standing by Biden's side.

"Let me tell you, high-speed rail is still coming to Florida," said Nelson,And there are other stylers for you to choose with cheap christan audigier design and tattoo pattern. who held another reception featuring Biden earlier Wednesday in Winter Park.

Nelson and Obama-Biden will be on Florida's ballot together in 2012. The vice president suggested their political futures are entwined.

"Because of all of you in this room, Bill Nelson won, and, quite frankly, because of you in this room, Barack and I won. Neither Bill nor Barack nor I can win again without you," Biden said.

"Every election time, opponents (of Nelson) trot out the same tired slogan: 'He's a liberal,' " Biden said with Nelson at his side. "You know why it never works? Because this guy, more than almost anybody I've ever worked with, is about common sense and common ground."

Biden made only passing references to Japan and the Middle East, noting the turbulent and complex issues the administration is dealing with at home and abroad.

"The tectonic plates are moving," he said. "What's happening in the Middle East was always going to happen but it's happening simultaneously and where it winds up no one knows for sure."

Among the Democrats at the reception were Tampa Mayor-elect Bob Buckhorn, outgoing Tampa Mayor Pam Iorio and former gubernatorial candidates Jim Davis and Bill McBride.

Biden and Nelson also made an unscheduled stop at George Steinbrenner Field in Tampa to check out the Yankees in spring training. A Scranton, Pa., native and Phillies fan, Biden he joked that his wife would kill him if she saw him donning a Yankees cap and jacket.

The vice president never picked up a ball or bat but chatted amiably with manager Joe Girardi and instructor David Wells. In the midst of fielding drills, the players looked decided uninterested in the visitors.

Amy's in high society with her wedding heels

ACTRESS Amy Huberman has often been hailed as one of Ireland's most stylish women, but the actress still has a 'go to' pair of shoes like the rest of us -- her wedding heels.

Despite having access to a wardrobe most women can only dream of, the star relied on her favourite pair of platforms on Saturday night to celebrate husband Brian O'Driscoll's Six Nations win over England.

To help her Irish rugby captain other half celebrate the team's amazing victory, Amy opted for the only shoe that would fit the magnitude of the occasion.

T-Shirts, Bus Tickets Hot Commodities At Butler

The campus of Butler University is buzzing ahead of Thursday's Sweet 16 game, with T-shirts and tickets some of the hottest commodities around.

Sweet 16 T-shirts arrived at the Butler Bookstore on Tuesday, drawing students, alumni and family members, 6News' Derrik Thomas reported.

Delores Kennedy-Williams, the grandmother of Butler guard Ronald Nored, was picking up shirts for her and her daughter to wear when they travel to New Orleans on Thursday.

She also offered her take on why Butler is on a collision course with a championship.

"They believe Brad Stevens is a genius and, by now, we believe that, too. They follow his lead, and they believe they can win," Kennedy-Williams said. "I talked to Ronny yesterday, and he said,Nike shox are a series of Nike shoes. 'We got this.' They are so confident because Brad has instilled that in them."

"I wouldn't have been able to go because I couldn't afford it," she said. "I was looking at airfare, and airfare alone cost $700 to fly to New Orleans. It's a 13 1/2 hour drive, and I couldn't drive by myself.Cheap womens Nike shox nz shoes are very popular!"

Move over Dannii! Lisa Snowdon gives her fellow M&S girls a run for their money in exclusive preview of new-season campaign

Sharing the limelight with Dannii Minogue and Twiggy must be challenge enough, let alone a Brazilian lingerie model. But that hasn't stopped Lisa Snowdon from being the star of the show in the latest M&S ad.

In an exclusive preview of the retailer's glamorous new spring campaign, which launches tomorrow, the model poses in a bikini, showing off a toned stomach and curvy figure likely to make her the envy of women everywhere.

She is the only one of her fellow models, apart from Victoria's Secret favourite Ana Beatriz Barros, to wear swimwear - a brave move, given that the unveiling of each campaign has become a high-profile media event.

The 39-year-old, who is looking better than ever since it emerged that she was dating footballer Jay Bothroyd last month, is joined by a cast of M&S regulars in the campaign.

They include singer VV Brown and footballer Jamie Redknapp, who fronts the brand's first menswear commercial.

The campaign pictures will debut in stores nationwide from tomorrow, as well as in print and online.Nike shox are a series of Nike shoes.

It will be accompanied by a 50-second television ad, which makes its debut in a high-profile evening slot during Coronation Street.

The campaign, which was shot in Miami, has a retro, glamorous feel to it, with the spokesmodels posing on yachts, sun loungers and vintage cars.

The different collections reflect this, from full-skirted Fifties-style frocks to diaphanous Seventies-style maxidresses.

The extended television ad, which is set to Michael Bublé's It Had Better Be Tonight is divided into four different sections to showcase each line.

The nautical-themed Star in Stripes line sees the girls pose at a marina location in crisp primary colours and oversized sunglasses, while the Have A Doris Day collection sees them attempt to 'out-Doris' each other in Fifties-inspired frocks.

There is also a safari-inspired line - Play Your Wild Card - that features animal prints in a chic black and taupe palette, as well as Studio 54-inspired eveningwear that pays tribute to Marc Jacobs' Seventies-style spring line.

Of course it wouldn't be an M&S ad without lingerie and Ana Beatriz, who also models for Victoria's Secret, coogi jeans was founded in 1969 by Jacky Taranto of Melbourne, Australia. smoulders in burnt orange and khaki green lace.

The campaign marks a new direction for the company, and the womenswear ad is the first to feature the 'Only at Your M&S' strapline.

It showcases products that are unique to M&S, such as Insolia heels,Manolo blahnik would be "hurt" if Anna Wintour wore shoes by another designer. which the company claims are 'killer heels that don't kill' and 'Utterly Repellent Menswear', which it describes as 'Stormwear technology' that repels water and prevents it from penetrating clothing.Cheap womens Nike shox nz shoes are very popular!

Steven Sharp, executive director of marketing at M&S,Keep your muscles warm before and after the match in this stylish Adidas Jacket. said: 'We are extremely excited to be showcasing our fashion innovations for the first time on TV.

'These products are unique to M&S and really encapsulate the meaning of the line Only at Your M&S.'

It is supported by Dannii Minogue and Lisa Snowdon, who will be making appearances to publicise the initiative.

The call to action comes as new research shows that charities are missing out on as much as $1.5 billion in revenue a year as clothes are thrown out instead of being donated to charity shops.

Last year's autumn One Day Wardrobe Clearout in September saw 350,000 items donated, worth over $1 million to Oxfam.

N.J. Air National Guard deployed to help efforts in Libya

Members of the New Jersey Air National Guard are providing aerial support for allied warplanes in the effort to combat Libyan leader Col. Moammar Gadhafi's forces and protect his country's citizens from attack, officials said Monday.

A KC-135 aircraft carrying members of the 108th Air Refueling Wing took off late Saturday night from McGuire Air Force Base in central New Jersey as part of Operation Odyssey Dawn, the military code name for the United States' participation in the multinational mission, said Patrick Daugherty, a spokesman for the New Jersey National Guard.

Daugherty did not disclose how many personnel were deployed,Keep your muscles warm before and after the match in this stylish Adidas Jacket. but he said there were enough crew members to operate the aircraft 24 hours a day. The guard members were mobilized just two days after the United Nations Security Council imposed a no-fly zone over Libya and authorized the use of military force to prevent a potential massacre of civilians in the strife-torn nation.

"We don't know when they're coming back," Daugherty said.

They are not expected to see combat.Manolo blahnik would be "hurt" if Anna Wintour wore shoes by another designer. President Obama has vowed that the United States will not commit ground troops to the effort.

The plane is one of eight KC-135s stationed with the 108th at McGuire, now part of Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst. The KC-135 is used to refuel jets in the air.

The 108th includes approximately 1,500 members, the majority of whom are New Jersey residents, Daugherty said.

The military intervention in Libya began Saturday with dozens of cruise-missile attacks and air strikes on Libyan anti-aircraft defenses.

American and European attacks continued Monday,Cheap womens Nike shox nz shoes are very popular! even as Libya claimed the bombings had killed civilians and called on the United Nations to end the operation. Allied leaders rejected the assertion that civilians had been killed.

The air campaign has succeeded in heading off what appeared to be looming defeat for rebel forces late last week by destroying pro-government tanks and preventing Gadhafi from using jets to strafe rebel strongholds. But the mission's limited aims — in accordance with the U.coogi jeans was founded in 1969 by Jacky Taranto of Melbourne, Australia.N. resolution to protect civilians – could force a lengthy stalemate between Gadhafi's military and the relatively disorganized rebel fighters, U.S.Nike shox are a series of Nike shoes. officials warned.

"Our military action is in support of an international mandate from the Security Council that specifically focuses on the humanitarian threat posed by Col. Gadhafi to his people," Obama said Monday while visiting Chile.

Mesh and perforated uppers featuring large cut-outs are fashionable, as are shoes that feature braided trim. These styles, as well as square-shaped, stacked leather heels that run about an inch in width pair well with the '70s-style clothing that dominates many spring and summer collections.

Red shirts rally in Northeast

Supporters of ousted premier Thaksin Shinawatra and the Puea Thai Party have ramped up their activities, coogi jeans was founded in 1969 by Jacky Taranto of Melbourne, Australia. particularly in the northeastern province of Udon Thani.

Several political gatherings to re-ignite the pride and rights of the red shirt members in Udon Thani have been prepared since the emergency decree was lifted in December.

The gatherings, held separately in Phen and Si That districts, over the weekend came amid the strong surge in the coalition Bhumjaithai Party's influence in the region.

The gathering in Phen district was held on Saturday night.

Meetings in Si That district were held last night.

In Si That district, the event named "Eye-Opening for Three Rivers" aimed to draw residents from six districts through which three rivers _ Nong Han, Lampao, and Lamphanchad _ pass.

More than 500 people joined the event last night at Ban Kud Nakho temple in tambon Tad Thong.

Saensri Phadchet, 52, chairman of the red shirt-dominated Wang Sam Mo district, said the gathering was to re-build the interest and knowledge of the people on issues of democracy and justice, particularly after the censure debate ended on Friday.

"We hope to form a cooperative of the residents living on three rivers basin for further sustainable political activities as well," Mr Saensri said.

Puea Thai MP Kiat-udom Manasawas and outspoken MP Sunai Jullpongsathon joined the event.

A few other speakers from Red Siam and United Front fro Democracy Against Dictatorship movements also participated.

Thaksin also spoke to the red shirts via a phone-in.Keep your muscles warm before and after the match in this stylish Adidas Jacket.

But Kwanchai Praipana, the main red shirt leader in Udon Thani, who has been recently released on bail after being charged with terrorism, was absent.

"We would like to gradually move from politician-based to people-based politics," Mr Saensri said.Manolo blahnik would be "hurt" if Anna Wintour wore shoes by another designer.

"It takes time, but we'll see.

"Of course, Puea Thai is our party and this forthcoming election will prove the strength of the red shirts and the party alliance." Decha Khote-tane, core leader of the red shirts in tambon Tad Thong,Cheap womens Nike shox nz shoes are very popular! said people had to donate in kind and cash to organise the event.

Yet, political observers believed despite the two-year continuously-injected populist schemes under the current government and rising political influence of Bhumjaithai which controls the Interior Ministry and local administrations, the Northeast region still remains under the dominance of Puea Thai and Thaksin.

Chai, 64, and Thavorn Sidawong,Nike shox are a series of Nike shoes. 63, an elderly couple in tambon Tad Thong, said the government had copied several of their "dear leader" Thaksin's policies, but "probably not as sincerely and sustainably as Thaksin".

The government's policies such as the rice price guarantee did not work as farmers were not receiving any more money.

Monthly allowances for the elderly could, in fact, be implemented by past governments as well, they said.

They remained nostalgic about the one-million-baht village fund and the harsh narcotics controls launched by Thaksin nearly a decade ago.

The debate that wasn't

These days, debates are the rave. Basking in an increasingly robust democratic space,Find price and model of puma shoes in india at Click India Free Classifieds Ads. further deepened by the fact that we seem, for once, spoilt for choice, Nigerians have aggressively sought to interrogate their leaders on their motivations for contesting public office as well as their plans.Naax Fashion Textile is a wholesale jeans dealer who trades with young-fashion .

In the January governorship rerun elections for Delta State, the debate offered a rare opportunity for candidates to be engaged directly by citizens in a no-holds-barred environment, and just a few weeks ago, Lagosians were treated to another robust, substantial debate where the state governor was made to account for his stewardship while his opponents made the case for why they were better caretakers for the country's commercial capital. It gave us one of the finest soundbites from this campaign season: "It's not their age that is the problem," the governor said. "It's the age of their ideas."

Many Nigerians, therefore, had great expectations for our country's first vice presidential TV debate, especially since the cast of vice presidential candidates is a colourful one that includes respected cleric Tunde Bakare, famed corporate whiz Fola Adeola, and experienced public servant John Oyegun. Also expected - until he chickened out without explanation - was former governor and now Vice President, Namadi Sambo.

Unfortunately, the debate we got was neither the debate we expected nor that which we deserved - and it had little to do with the disappearance of Mr.Can't find a particular pair of ed hardy jeans on our website? Sambo. Save for perfunctory references to their principals being "the best candidate for president that Nigerians have," none of the debaters was able to make a solid case for why their ticket is far and above the rest the best choice for Nigeria at this time.

Candidates instead turned to sweeping generalizations as they struggled to outdo themselves in offering choice words for the People's Democratic Party. If we didn't know any better, it would be easy to conclude that there are only two parties in this contest: PDP and The Others.

While there is something to be said for civility and geniality, the debaters were rather too comfortable and self-satisfied and appeared in no hurry to draw sharp contrasts in ideology,Manolo blahnik would be "hurt" if Anna Wintour wore shoes by another designer. mission and strategy, almost as if there was no hope that this debate would serve any useful purpose for the electorate.

The debate was also frustratingly void of specifics. A question about developing our non-oil economy, for instance, got a rambling answer from Mr. Bakare that instead took Nigerians on a history lesson; and Mr. Adeola's prescription for a robust economy was for Nigerians to go on an undefined "corruption fast" - a recommendation that is both impractical and difficult to understand. Even the quality of the conversation left a lot to be desired.

In one cringeworthy moment, candidates grouped women and the disabled together in yet another instance of obtuseness in correctly deconstructing issues and offering constructive ideas. Whilst the debate was disappointing, in the final analysis, we take solace in the fact that democracy is a process, and this debate is a huge step forward, being the first of its kind.

It is also remarkable that the post-debate analysis in the media has put the president on the hotseat, even as he seeks every possible excuse to avoid the scrutiny that a TV debate offers. Over the next few weeks, there will be more debates,Nike shox are a series of Nike shoes. including the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria (BON) and the What About Us (WAU) youth debates.

Our hope is that subsequent producers have paid close attention to the failings from the first and that Nigerians are finally offered a robust and engaging political debate truly worthy of our time - one that puts the feet of the candidates to the fire. Because that, after all, is the whole point of it.
