Thai Police to Use No Force on "Yellow-Shirts" Removal

Thai police said on Sunday they would use no force in asking the nationalistic "yellow-shirts" to leave their assembly site near key government offices as the deadline set for their removal approaches.

However, PAD leaders told reporters on Sunday they would not move from their present encampment.

The PAD has been protesting for almost two months now against what they called the mishandling of Thai-Cambodian border dispute by the government of Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva.

They wanted the government to scrap the existing memorandum of understanding signed between Thailand and Cambodia in 2000 as the framework for settling the two countries' border dispute.

They also wanted the government to expel Cambodians who are occupying the disputed areas, and the government to pull out as a party to the World Heritage Convention.
