Holy Grail opens at The Banks

The Banks' first retail tenant, the Holy Grail Tavern & Grille, opened its doors – as well as three signature garagedoor windows – wide open Thursday to sunny 54degree weather for an early St. Patrick's Day celebration.Nike shox are a series of Nike shoes.

Coowner Tom Heitker told a crowd that restaurant construction was completed two weeks ahead of the original goal, which was the Cincinnati Reds Opening Day game on March 31.

The 6,000squarefoot sports bar is across the Joe Nuxhall Way from Great American Ball Park.

"This is exciting – this is the Holy Grail," he said before pouring the official first beer – a Guinness – for Trent Germano, vice chairman of The Banks codeveloper Atlantabased Carter.

Scheduled to join Holy Grail later this year at The Banks is Toby Keith's I Love this Bar & Grill, which will take the largest retail space on Second Street. Also committed to space is a New Orleansbased restaurant operator that plans to open three of its concepts – Huey's 24/7 Diner, The Wine Loft and La Crepe Nanou – on Freedom Way. Johnny Rockets has also committed to opening its newest restaurant format at The Banks.

Later this fall, the twostory Moerlein Lager House is expected to open just south of The Banks on Joe Nuxhall Way at the incoming Cincinnati Riverfront Park.

Developers also say they're on pace to have nearly all of the 300 new apartments rented by year's end.

Hamilton County Commissioner Chris Monzel said the opening was a milestone in fulfilling a promise to local residents that the riverfront would be remade.

"Four, five years ago this was a mud pit. Now, it's an opportunity for economic development that will bring jobs and opportunity for years to come," he said.
