A 90-year-old widow had been left heartbroken after a heroin addict
broke into her home and stole jewellery of great sentimental value.
The
victim’s mother had died when she herself was only four and she had
treasured a gold chain and locket which belonged to her.
She had a photograph of her late husband inside the locket, Mold Crown Court was told.
But
while she left her home in the Acton Grove area of Wrexham on March 20
to attend her local luncheon club, heroin addict Mark Lynch (26) smashed
a window in her door and stole the locket and other property.
He then pawned the property in a bid to pay back drug dealers to whom he owed a debt, the court heard.
To make matters worse Lynch was on a community order for his own mini crime wave of burglaries at the time.
Judge
Rhys Rowlands jailed Lynch for a total of 32 months and said that he
had failed to take the chance he had been given by another judge in
January, when he admitted six burglaries.
Lynch, said to have
moved to the Holt area to escape drug dealers, was told by Judge
Rowlands that he had been involved in a campaign of burglary, targeting
the local community, and he must now face the consequences.
On
this occasion he admitted burglary at the pensioner’s home and asked for
a further two burglaries to be taken into consideration.
Prosecuting
barrister Kate Meredith-Jones told how scenes of crimes officers got a
DNA hit from blood found at a wardrobe at the pensioner’s home and he
was arrested.
The victim had been to a luncheon club, returned
home to find a glass panel in her porch smashed, and her house had been
searched.
A gold ring had been taken. A gold locket was of great
sentimental value to her and she was upset and angry that he had not
helped police get it back for her because it was irreplaceable.
She felt uncomfortable that someone had been in her home.

One challenge economists face is whether and how to account for the cost of responses to terrorism, which are the result of both the terrorist attack and how government and individuals respond to them. “In a real sense no small group of individuals can materially damage our economy unless we help them by overreacting,” said Jacob N.Take a look at our site for more hairflower. One reason economists say the economic impact is muted is the resiliency of the U.S. economy, like other complex economies. This was demonstrated for Boston University political scientist Neta C. Crawford when, six days after the Boston bombing, she went shoe shopping in Cambridge, Mass. Looking for running shoes, she found that the store and sister stores were busier than usual, picking up the slack from the Marathon Sports store damaged and temporarily closed by the marathon bombing.
In addition to resiliency, there is another way economies can recover some of the costs of terrorism: if they come with benefits. “In general, ‘spin-off’ effects tend to be less efficiently produced than if someone had directly invested in acquiring that knowledge,” Crawford said. “On the other hand, would the investment have been made absent the push of an attack or a response to it? I think here of the tremendous advances in trauma treatment and prosthetic devices.”
Carol Mansfield, senior economist with RTI International, ticked off other examples: “Cameras help with regular street crime,” Mansfield said. “Business spending to create better emergency plans or to move offices out of Manhattan also help when natural disaster strikes.”
Despite all these uncertainties, economists do try to put numbers on the cost of terrorism, and other unmeasurable phenomena. David J. Weiss, a psychology professor at California State University, Los Angeles, who consulted with economists on a project to estimate terrorism’s impact, “was struck by how willing economists are to construct models whose bases are untestable assumptions.” Weiss added, “The model-sanctified estimates are no more than guesses, because the key underlying assumptions are unsupported.specific line of men's steelbracelet to help you get the most out of your cycling training and competition.” He supports the use of what he calls factorial forecasting to make better estimates.

in diamond rings from a Guildford jewellers at gunpoint have been jailed for
more than seven years.
Seasoned armed robbers John Saunders, 51, and James Roberts, 49, of Devon, raided Cry For the Moon jewellers in Tunsgate in August 2012.
Guildford Crown Court heard on April 25 that the pair had each served lengthy prison sentences as members of a robbery gang, with Saunders on licence from a life sentence and Roberts having previously been shot by police.

Other products on offer also range from African ornaments and jewelleries made from cow horns and recycled coloured paper.
“Our main purpose of taking part in this exhibition is to showcase what we have in Uganda, in terms of arts and crafts to delegates and visitors to the congress but we will not mind to offer some of the items for sale to whoever is interested instead of taking them back to Uganda,” sales representative Alinda Joselyn told Gulf Times in an interview.We buy overstock cartierreplicawatche and factory closeouts.
Some of the decorative bark cloth with different animal and household motifs printed on them cost $10-20 depending on the amount of work done on it and the size of the material.

Joselyn explained that the bead works were made from recycled coloured paper and no additional paints was used on them.
“The beads’ colour stays the same as the original paper that was recycled, we don’t dye the paper to get any extra colour. We also make photo frames made from the recycled paper as well as ladies’ waist beads,” she said.

A good example is the Province of Ontario where there are currently 77 rate-regulated electricity distribution utilities – more than the combined total of all of the electricity distribution utilities in the rest of Canada. If this seems to be a large number, it should be recalled that in the late 1990's there were over 300 electricity distribution utilities in Ontario.
In April 2012, the Ontario Minister of Energy appointed the Ontario Distribution Sector Review Panel which was mandated to provide advice to the government on how to improve the efficiency of the electricity distribution sector through consolidation or other means with the aim of reducing the financial cost of electricity distribution to consumers. This article will look at the work and recommendations of the Review Panel and discuss the Panel's findings which are broadly applicable.
The Review Panel consisted of Murray Elston (Panel Chair), a former Ontario Cabinet Minister and past member of the Board of Hydro One; Floyd Laughren, a former Ontario Cabinet Minister and past Chair of the Ontario Energy Board; and me. The Panel began work in late April and over the next five months received over 80 written and/or oral submissions from a broad cross section of interested parties, including electricity distribution utilities, unions, consumer organizations, regulatory agencies, financial institutions, municipal governments, energy associations and industry experts. The Panel made it clear from the outset that it wished to focus its attention on the challenges and opportunities which will be created over the next ten years, not on solving grievances and problems of the past decade. The Panel's report was issued in December 2012.

Local Enterprise Partnership (GBSLEP) through its allocation from the Growing
Places Fund.
The investment will allow the Birmingham Conservation Trust, which took ownership of the building in 2010, to create new commercial units at the property. The three-storey building will also become the trust's head office.
"The Newman Brothers building is a historical gem and I'm delighted the deal could be struck for the Growing Places Fund to bring it back into use," said Paul Heaven, GBSLEP board director and chairman of the Growing Places Fund committee.

“The fluctuations in gold in the last few days have shocked the investors. This has been the biggest fall in the history of gold market. However, it would be too early to say that investors are losing faith in the yellow metal,” said Hardeep Yadav, Director of Delhi-based Checkmate Traders.
Kishore Narne, Head of Commodities, Motilal Oswal Securities, said the confidence in gold has been dented given the magnitude of the fall in price.
Prospects for any recovery in gold remain weak and given the lack of any major triggers. In the near term, gold is unlikely to reverse the downtrend anytime soon, he said.
NBFCs concerns
Non-banking finance companies that lend gold should be the ones that could be worried due to the fall.
But George Alexander Muthoot, Managing Director, Muthoot Finance, said that though gold price is an important factor, the business model should not be misunderstood as a financing bullion or shares where mark-to-market could affect the repayment behaviour.
“A 15 to 20 per cent price fluctuation in gold prices is already factored in our business model.community for supply and demand-side energymanagement services, It is not a new event which has come up. Since we are financing only household jewellery, the impact of such fluctuations is minimal,” he said.

“The fluctuations in gold in the last few days have shocked the investors. This has been the biggest fall in the history of gold market. However, it would be too early to say that investors are losing faith in the yellow metal,” said Hardeep Yadav, Director of Delhi-based Checkmate Traders.
Kishore Narne, Head of Commodities, Motilal Oswal Securities, said the confidence in gold has been dented given the magnitude of the fall in price.
Prospects for any recovery in gold remain weak and given the lack of any major triggers. In the near term, gold is unlikely to reverse the downtrend anytime soon, he said.
NBFCs concerns
Non-banking finance companies that lend gold should be the ones that could be worried due to the fall.
But George Alexander Muthoot, Managing Director, Muthoot Finance, said that though gold price is an important factor, the business model should not be misunderstood as a financing bullion or shares where mark-to-market could affect the repayment behaviour.
“A 15 to 20 per cent price fluctuation in gold prices is already factored in our business model.community for supply and demand-side energymanagement services, It is not a new event which has come up. Since we are financing only household jewellery, the impact of such fluctuations is minimal,” he said.

With almost 24 years to his journey, and about 200 pieces in his extensive collection, Khilji reveals that he will leave his inherited pieces to his children and would love to have them follow in his footsteps.

Falling commodities give Dow worst day of the year
Worries about an economic
slowdown in China fueled a steep drop in commodity prices Monday, spooking
investors and giving the stock market its worst day of the year.

An operations research study done in one urban and one rural site in India found that even 1 year after the study, 75% urban Indian users and 77% rural users continued using this method.
The top three reasons cited by Indian women for choosing SDM were—it does not affect their health; it is inexpensive; the partner readily agrees to it. They also felt that, unlike condoms or oral pills, they did not feel shy even if others saw the string hanging on their kitchen wall. They said it led to more visual communication between the couples—husband would buy (or not buy) condoms just by looking at position of the rubber ring on the beads.
Leading gynaecologist Dr Suneeta Mittal rued the fact that in India family planning focusses on permanent methods such as tubectomy, vasectomy, contraceptive pills and IUDs, while traditional methods such as SDM get much smaller attention. Yet only 2%-3% people use IUD and contraceptive pills in India. We need to expand our basket of choices. No one method fits all, so it is essential to have a method mix to ensure that children are born by choice and not by chance.
It would be interesting to note that a staggering 222 million out of 867 million women of child bearing age in developing countries do not have access to modern contraceptive methods. According to the National Health and Family Survey 2005-2006 (NHFS 3), the current use of contraceptive of any kind in India is 56% out of which 37% is female sterilization, 5% is condom use and a mere 1% is male sterilization. These figures speak volumes for our patriarchal society where men still not feel responsible enough of becoming active partners for planned parenthood.
The main idea behind promoting this new method of family planning is that all couples must have access to quality reproductive health and family planning services, irrespective of their social and economic status.
