Lynn Van derzee Christie, program coordinator for the Ravena-Coeymans Historical Society (RCHS) for the past five years, hosted the final event of her tenure on May 12.
The RCHS is looking for a candidate to take over Van derzee's position once regular programming starts up again in September.
"Lynn has big shoes to fill," said Secretary Linda Peterman.
RCHS President Ralph Biance praised Van derzee for her service, saying, "You have done an excellent job. Do you have a clone?"
Fittingly, for her final program, Van derzee presented the history of the Coeymans Farms her family has owned and run for the past 328 years.
The Van derzee Farm is one of the region's oldest and is listed as both a New York State Bicentennial Farm and on the State and National Historic Register of Historic Places.
The fascinating tale Van derzee wove of her family's three centuries plus in America provided a rare, personal glimpse into the evolution of farming and the way property passes from one generation to the next.
From the 1636 emigration of her ancestors from the Netherlands to her own role representing the farm's seventh and last generation, Van derzee's anecdotes were poignant and illuminating.
According to her research, Albert Bradt and his wife sailed from the old world to the new in 1636, giving birth to a son they named Storm Van derzee which, translated from Dutch, means "of the sea".

"It's amazing to me they survived the voyage and made it here alive," Van derzee said. "It shows the settlers’ determination to reach the new world."
When the Bradts arrived in Fort Orange as one of fifty families pledged to work for the Kiliaen van Rensselaer patroonship, they built and ran a saw mill.
Van derzee said he went by the name Albert de Norman and the Normanskill Creek was named after him.
The first Van derzee Farm was established by Cornelius Van derzee in 1773.

In the 20th century, the farm concentrated for a time on dairy products and even had a milk run through Ravena but in the past few decades, when Van derzee's father, Donald, was alive, the farm concentrated primarily on hay crops.
Not only has the farm's name changed over the years from the Meadowbrook Farm to the Van derzee Farm, the spelling of the family's last name has undergone many revisions. These include Van Derzee, Van Der Zee, Vanderzee and the present variation, Van derzee.
Lynn inherited the farm after her father's death.As it's called Nike shox classic, which is one of the classical style of nike lineup.
One of the most architecturally significant features of the original farm is the way the house and the outbuildings were constructed in a circle.
At one time there were more than thirty such buildings with functions from housing pigs, chickens, cows and wagons to a corncrib, a harness shop, a paint shop, a smokehouse, a wash house and a tenant house.
Through pictures, artifacts and stories Van derzee provided the audience with an overview of the Van derzee farm and family and their rich history over the three centuries they have made their home in Coeymans.
