The trio told investigators a lone male individual initially approached them at their car, asking to purchase a cigarette, said Sheriff's Office Spokesman Kathy Hoffmeyer.
After the man walked a short distance away, a second man went to the vehicle, leaned against a door and displayed a handgun.
The first man and a second man then joined him in collecting wallets and purses - containing large amounts of cash, four cell phones and other belongings from the visitors, Hoffmeyer said. The duo also took the 23-year-old driver's cash pouch before ordering him to the ground and demanding his wallet and car keys.
