Once inside Aria, guests found themselves inside the Emerald City: this year's theme for Fur Ball. It's one that will continue on Nov. 12 when the group presents the “Wizard of Paws” Style Show and Luncheon based on the Wizard of Oz.

I talked to Morgane Heinz, the Fur Ball Chair who looked fabulous in an emerald green dress perfect for the Emerald City atmosphere. I asked just how they got all those ruby slippers.
“The committee spent the last few days painting, gluing, and glittering those shoes,” Heinz said. “We got them donated. I never want to see glitter again,” she laughed.
But it was all worth it: Heinz was really excited about the event as a whole.
“This is the first time we've done Fur Ball, and we wanted to mix it up. The Style Show is fun for the ladies, so we wanted to get the men involved too.”
Rosaura De Los Santos, another Paws and Claws, Auxiliary to the Gulf Coast Humane Society, volunteer, gave me the skinny on the event itself, noting that all proceeds from the Fur Ball go directly to the Gulf Coast Humane Society.
This is good news for local animals, especially during the summer when shelters become very crowded. Heinz and De Los Santos also had special thanks for the underwriters for the evening who made the event a success, like Andrews Distributing, Republic National Distributors, Sushi Bar and Couture Catering, and Aria.
Things got even wilder when the live auction started. Eric Von Wade served as event emcee and auctioneer,we sale the ed hardy Shirt in low price but with high quality. and the crowd had a great time competing for fun trips like a Montana getaway, a weekend on South Beach, designer jewelry from Susanne's and original artwork by Sarah Enaid. Ann Hennis and Shawn Mintz were two guests whom I saw having a great time supporting the cause with those bidder paddles.
I had a great time watching the fun at Chela Storm's table with Maureen Miller, Toy Smith, and some other fun gals. I asked Chela how long she had supported the Gulf Coast Humane Society, and she quipped, “only about 30 years.”
Committee member Lindsey Pietsch also sat down next to me,This Adidas Jacket will battle the rain, wind and cold weather so you can focus on the game. and I had a great time chatting with her about the venue, as she is one of the owners of Aria. She said it has been everything from a car dealership to a brothel in its more than 100-year history, and opened as Aria in 2008.
