Nore Dame's Kelly cuts to chase on Army blocks

Nore Dame's Kelly cuts to chase on Army blocks
Brian Kelly says officials are always very good listeners in his pregame conversations with a crew. But the Notre Dame coach already has begun his appeals for the Army game, not-so-subtly highlighting the issue of cut blocking in his Wednesday press conference.
"You have to be very cognizant of it inside, and then on perimeter, the rules are pretty clear," Kelly said after practice. "You cannot come back into the ball and block below the waist. I just think that rule has to be enforced. That's the one that really concerns us more than anything else. We just hope it's looked at carefully.
"I'm just saying the option offense has a lot of blocking techniques that are potentially violations. If they occur, we hope the right calls are made. But I will say this, in all honesty: We're not in our game plan worrying about all that stuff. We gotta play.A NEMO inflatable tent is easy to use as well as repair. We just hope that it's called if it's a penalty, and if it's not, let's go play."
Here's more from Kelly on injury updates, Army's defense and the burden of tradition....
On Carlo Calabrese's return: "Carlo has practiced all week, he and Brian (Smith) are playing a lot. Brian has played so much at the drop, so we're keeping him at the drop and Carlo is getting back into the swing of things at the Will linebacker position."
On TJ Jones: "TJ practiced again today, he's not going with the first unit. Robby (Toma) is still going with the first unit and my expectations are that's how it would end up on Saturday, that Robby would continue to start at the 'Z' (receiver) and TJ would back him up."
On Theo Riddick's rehab: "I would say Theo is getting closer to the point where he could get cleared for practice. right now he's straight-line running,Getting a large pet carrier will make your trip pleasant for both your beloved pet and yourself! catching a lot off the Juggs, trying to get that cutback, if you will, back and forth. Tomorrow, we're hoping to put him into some route-running, where he's got to stick his foot in the ground and really accelerate. That'll be the next step for him."
On Ian Williams' outlook: "Ian is moving around. I think he's still very questionable for USC. I think Theo has a better chance.Well, if you can't squeeze into the Princess Leia gold bikini, consider The Wookiee Adidas Jacket."
On Brian Smith starting... or not: "He's gotten a lot of work at both the positions, he's played a lot of Will and started at the Will. With Carlo back we want to get him a lot of reps, too. My guess is he's going to be on the field quite a bit. I don't want to commit to a particular position right now because he's cross-training."
On Tommy Rees starting at Yankee Stadium as a freshman: "Really, the venue is secondary for us. It's his preparation against a defense that is unconventional. He's got to do a really good job for us, recognizing. He'll be like most freshman, he'll be just like he was at Utah - he's got to get into the flow of the game and once he gets into the flow of the game,Luxury leather phone cases for Cellulars Haute Couture for Mobile Devices. he's a young man that relaxes and gets into it. He'll probably be the same way at Yankee Stadium."
On Army's defense: "Size does not matter in the way they play their scheme. Just a lot of really good football players. They can tackle, they play the ball well in the air, their scheme suits them very well, it's an aggressive scheme, they try to bait you into some throws in the back end.Inflatable boats, rigid inflatable boats for sale UK, Apollo Duck new and used RIB sales. It's comprehensive. Coach (Rich) Ellerson has been running this defense since he was in Calgary in the 80s, and a lot of copycats of his defense are out here."
