Straw walls withstand wind

Bob Bernstein and his wife,We offer Ed Hardy Bags and inflatable life jackets for you. Irma Paz-Bernstein, are best known for the fair trade and organic coffees and desserts they sell at their Nashville shops. So it's no surprise the house they are renovating and expanding in the 12 South district is organic, as well.

It is an example of an old building technique that is relatively new to Nashville — straw bale construction. The walls of their new room are made of bales of insulating straw, tightly stacked and covered with a natural plaster that makes its own small contribution to the fight against global warming by absorbing carbon from the air.Description If you are looking for unique, trendsetting jeans, slip into any pair of puma shoes and feel what luxury is really about.

"We knew building a house would be an opportunity to do something we could be proud of," said Irma, who operates Las Paletas, a gourmet ice pop shop on 12th Avenue South.

Her husband is best known as the founder of Bongo Java and Fido coffee shops, which have locations on Belmont Boulevard, in East Nashville's Five Points district and in Hillsboro Village. Hot & Cold, a joint venture between the two, will open any time now in Hillsboro Village. The shops sell organic and fair trade coffee purchased directly from small-scale farmers. Fair trade prices are higher than market prices and help small farmers stay in business and engage in sustainable land-use practices.
Overcoming road blocks

Creating a green home for themselves and their two young sons, Max and Alex,From hand held inflatable products carrying your logo, to giant blimps, message boards and balloons for the large venues, was harder than the couple initially imagined. After interviewing nearly a dozen contractors, cheap true religion,a good place to find more cheaper ED Hardy Clothing and newest heels products. they still had not found someone to guide them on their quest. They already knew they wanted geothermal heating and cooling. Our offer inflatable mattress bed,ed hardy bags,ed hardy clothing,ed hardy caps, cheap ed hardy, discount ed hardy, welcome to order! They were already committed to natural and sustainable building products. They wanted to do more, but the contractors were out of ideas.

"Let's be kind of guinea pigs," Irma told them. "We'll try anything. We wanted to be sure every step of the way meant something to us."

The solution became apparent when her sister, an architect, returned from a trip to Brazil where she had encountered rammed-earth construction. This ancient building technique involves filling a home's walls with earth, lime and gravel.
